Narnia's Beginning: A Poem

Greetings, all!
Here is a poem that I wrote a few years ago. I based it off of the Magician's Nephew chapter when Aslan creates all the creatures and living things that inhabit that world. I hope you all enjoy it, and let me know it the comment section what you think about my poetry style! XD

Narnia’s Beginning
Based on The Magician’s Nephew, by C.S. Lewis
The land without light has begun
A place where not yet a tongue
Has spoken.
Far away, notes are dancing,
Tripping, graceful, bright, like the dawn
Rises o’er the black of night
To chase away the shadows.
Another chorus joins the first,
Silvery and cold, high and tingling
Like a flash, the stars appear
As if an ebony curtain, thrown across the heavens
Was pulled away by the icy music.
Now, glorious, the music mighty
Brings forth the golden sun on high
Laughing for joy, it heightens
And enhances the new world’s beauty,
Revealing the Master.
A Lion.
Golden, shaggy, light, and shining
Huge, warm, majestic, singing
His World into existence.
Softer, lilting, the music changes
Bubbling, sparkling, like a stream
That flows over the mountainside
Washing away the dust.
Grass begins to grow, creeping
Like a wave across a sandy beach
Springing up like a cricket leaps
Heather begins to increase.
Notes like a beam of light
Are singing through the breeze
Another instant the melody creates sweet flowers.
Deep, long notes are rumbling
Dark fir trees in existence.
The Song has changed.
Fiery notes are sounding forth,
Deep, rumbling scales are bursting out
Light, airy tunes are floating high
Soft, furry strains are being sung.
They are creating Life.
A tiny note has made a mouse,
A larger tune has formed a dog.
Sleek, shiny airs have fashioned cats,
While watery chants created Naiads.
And woody calls shaped out Dryads.
The creatures are made.
The music ceases.
The Master is still.
He opens His mouth,
And breathes.
Long, warm, moist, soft.
It sways the creatures.
The stars begin
A pure, cold music
Difficult to comprehend
Beautiful as silver,
Sharp as steel,
Hard as diamonds,
A flash like fire.
The Lion speaks.
“Narnia, Narnia, Narnia, awake. Love. Think. Speak. Be walking trees. Be talking beasts. Be divine waters.”
His voice shivers, tingles, quivers in the air.
It is done.
Narnia is completed.

  1. You know those poetry recitations that are in large public events in the Anne of Green Gables books?

I think this poem is perfect for just such a recitation. I'm really picky about poetry, but I LOVE your style of it! It's like an epic, which are some of my favorite poems.

    Great job!

Those Questions You Get Asked By Distant Relatives And How To Answer Them

Greetings, all! You know those questions that most kids get asked sometime in their life by well-meaning great-aunts, distant cousins, and the family dentist? Yeah, mm-hm. Those questions. The ones you get tired of answering because usually the people who are asking don’t even care about the answer; they just ask out of politeness or because they don’t know what else to talk about with a kid. I hate those questions. With a passion. So, I decided to think of different answers to give when I get asked those questions, and I’m going to share a few with you. I can’t wait to see people’s reactions when I answer with these. It’s going to be priceless. XD DISCLAIMER: Always remember to be polite, respectful, and courteous when you answer an adult; even if you’ve heard the question they are asking 100,000,000 times and are sick and tired of it. Thank you. ;-D Question #1: “What Grade Are You In?” Normal Answer: “I’m in 10 th grade.” New and Improved Answer:...
