My Camp Nano Project: Of Seas, Silver, and Shipmates.

Greetings, all!

Since Camp Nano is almost over...HOW IS IT ALREADY ALMOST THE END OF JULY???...ahem, I decided to share a little of what I've been working on this month.
Introducing,

Synopsis
Eden Claire is an orphaned serving girl in England. Living her lonely life working in the library of a boarding school, she begins to think that she must always settle for less, and that her dreams of comradeship, adventure, and sailing to unknown lands must slowly dwindle away to nothing.
However, when an old forgotten acquaintance shows up on her doorstep with a note left to Eden by her father, those dreams might just become rekindled; dreams that will take Eden to wild escapades on the high seas.
Eden must outwit the notorious Damian the Black Hearted and his gang of pirates in her quest for her father’s treasure, but she cannot do it alone-she will need the help of others. Can she learn how important true friendship is, even at the cost of losing the treasure…and possibly her own life?

Characters

^ Eden Claire Gray, my 16 year old protagonist. She's loyal, very smart, has a phonographic memory, and is disabled in her right hand.

^ Elani, my mentor. She's an amazing fighter and is incredibly skilled with weapons and athletics.

^ Freja, my ally. She's a mischievous gypsy girl that is fierce and street-smart.

 ^ Damian the Black Hearted, my villain. 'Nuff said.

7-7-7 Tag

Jane Maree, our Most Honorable Cabin Leader, tagged all of us in her cabin with this lovely 7-7-7 tag, which involves going to the seventh page, count down seven lines, and share the next seven paragraphs. So, here goes!

*
My heart dropped into my stomach and I let go of the little girl’s hand I was holding. I stepped in front of Mrs. Greenbury and wiped some of the soot off my face. “Who are you?” I demanded.
He smiled, his cheekbones jutting out sharply out of his face and casting dark shadows around his mouth. “Damian is my name.” When I showed no recognition, he cocked his head a little. “I’m surprised your father never spoke of me.”
I spat. “I’m glad he didn’t.” This was now two people who had claimed to know my father today. It was becoming a pattern I hoped wouldn’t continue.
He nodded. “You have your father’s spirit.” He took a few steps forwards. “I think you have something that I need.”
I shook my head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Out of the corner of my eye I saw Mrs. Greenbury shooing the other children away. I turned my attention back on the pirate. “I own very little, and I don’t think any of my belongings could help you in any way.”
“No letters, or papers of any kind?” He took another step forward. I held my ground.
“No.”

I hope you enjoyed that!!!

I also wanted to share with you a sea shanty that I wrote for the first chapter.

                One dark night, the thunder rolled;
                The waves crashed on the sailors bold;
                That heaved the oars and on ropes pulled;
                To make it through the waters cold,
                Before their souls to Death were sold.

                So listen my child, and from fear be set free
                Of the salty depths of the mighty sea.

                They rowed for hours, admidst the spray
                Of salty sea, and the thunderous fray
                Of breaking waves upon their ship.
But God above had heard their cry,
                And though their strength had all been spent,
 He brought them safe to sandy shore.

                So listen my child, and from fear be set free
                Of the salty depths of the mighty sea.

I had a lot of fun writing that. :-)

And no WIP post for me would be complete without sharing an few aesthetics that I made for my story!

And finally, here is the playlist that I made for my story!

That's all from me! Tell me, how are you WIPs going? Are you doing Camp Nano? Can you believe that it's almost the end of July??? And what do you think about my story?

Namarie!

    2. I'd consider myself loyal and smart, as well as having a phonographic memory and being technically disabled in my right hand. When I read the description of your protagonist it seriously felt like reading a description of myself... which would be slightly creepy if someone I didn't know had a character like that. XD

  14. And this story sounds epic. Going on my tbr asap list. *hint hint*
